Patient terms

Version 2026-05-08 · Beta release

This is a placeholder document for the private beta.Final terms are in legal review and will replace this before public launch. By accepting, you confirm you've read this draft and understand the points below.

1. What Pacing is

Pacing is a small companion app you use between sessions with your therapist. You log briefly each day; your therapist sees what you logged. It's a wellness tool, not a medical device, and not a substitute for therapy.

2. Pacing is not a crisis service

Your therapist isn't on call inside Pacing. The urgent flag is a courtesy notification. It does not promise a response time. If you need help right now, please call or text 988, call 911, or use your personal safety plan. Crisis resources are surfaced inside Pacing every time the urgent flag is used.

3. Who sees what you log

Your therapist reads what you submit: the diary entries you finish and submit, anything you flag as urgent, weekly summaries before your session, and your notes. They do not see anything you started writing and didn't submit, a live feed of what you're typing, or a notification every time you open the app. They never see another patient's data.

4. Your data

What you write belongs to you. You can export everything as a file at any time. We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models. Not now, not later, not as a feature. Pacing's architecture is built to HIPAA standards (encryption in transit and at rest, audit logging, BAA-eligible vendors).

5. Ending the relationship

You can stop using Pacing any time. Ending from your side is one tap and a confirmation. You retain read-only access for 30 days to export anything you wrote, then your data is deleted. Your therapist gets a notification when you end; you don't have to give a reason.

6. Age

Pacing is for adults 18+ during the MVP. You confirm your date of birth at signup; if you're under 18, the signup flow ends without creating an account.

7. Beta caveats

During the private beta, expect product changes, occasional downtime, and direct conversations with your therapist about what's working. This service is provided as-is during beta.
